A skin-soothing ingredient formulated to regulate the “two-way system” and rebalance glutamate, supporting skin nerve homeostasis. This is JAKA Biotech‘s proposal at PCHi 2026, the international event for ‘Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients’ held in Hangzhou, China, from March 18 to 20.
Wilson Xun, Vice President, General Manager of China Marketing Center, told HPC Today, media partner of the event, Gavient PY, a skin-soothing ingredient positioned around “dual-sensory system” regulation and glutamate balance to support skin nerve homeostasis, and JAKA’s market strategies.
“At this PCHi, JAKA Biotech introduces its new soothing ingredient, Gavient PY. It is a highly active ingredient designed for skin neuro-soothing. It operates on the ‘Dual-Sensory System – Glutamate Regulatory Network’. It targets the excessive activation of TRPV1/TRPV4 channels in keratinocytes, thus reducing glutamate overproduction at the source. Meanwhile, it inhibits glutamate receptor activation in neuron-like cells to block abnormal transmission of nerve signals of nerve impulses. During the development process, innovative biological model of ‘glutamatergic neurotransmission functionality – hiNeuSyn™’ was constructed for the first time. Gavient PY offers a globally innovative solution for skin neuro-soothing and fills a gap in the industry”.
“Can you explain how the hiNeuSyn™ artificial cell model helps simulate skin–nerve interactions and what this means for future skincare development? The hiNeuSyn™ cell model is derived from SH-SY5Y cells, representing the first successfully induced differentiation into neuron-like cells -continues Wilson Xun-. This model exhibits distinct neuronal characteristics (such as synapses) and demonstrates heightened sensitivity to pain and itch-related signals. Furthermore, it possesses glutamatergic neurotransmission functions, with enhanced capabilities for glutamate synthesis and secretion. In the new product development process, this model facilitates multi-target verification and enables the high-throughput generation of quantifiable experimental data”.
“Innovation is the core spirit of JAKA Biotech. It is the driving force that empowers us to break through the limits of established mindsets, traditional paths, and existing technologies achieving a leap from nothing to something, and from something to excellence. It is about leveraging new ideas, techniques, and methods to solve real problems and deliver innovative solutions to our clients”, emphasizes Vice President, General Manager of China Marketing Center of JAKA Biotech.
And looking to the future, to the challenges in the personal care sector, he concludes. “Driven by the triple forces of consumption upgrading, information transparency, and the science-based skincare trend, the cosmetics industry has fully entered a phase of profound transformation. Consumers are becoming increasingly rigorous regarding the data verification of product efficacy and safety.
However, current industry technologies often suffer from lagging R&D systems. Traditional research models face systematic issues such as the high demand for skin and cell samples, uncontrollable individual differences, and controversies surrounding human testing. These limitations even lead to inefficient experimentation, environmental burdens, and ethical concerns.
About JAKA’s Strategic Responses, for Innovation in Technical Architecture we are building a ‘leading-edge R&D system’ from the ground up, creating a symbiotic relationship between the environment and corporate development. Establish a Cell Platform: we have set up a dedicated platform to enhance the sustainable supply of cells, thereby reducing the environmental burden. Develop “Organoid” Models: we are constructing organoid models that can replace human testing while achieving high-precision verification. Uphold the 3R Principles: We adhere to the 3R principles (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) and have established mechanisms to protect the rights of human subjects, prioritizing the value of life”.
