2026 User Club: Coptis unveils Purple, its AI agent for cosmetic R&D and introduces Document Reader

From product co-creation to artificial intelligence: Coptis brings its customers together to shape the future of cosmetic formulation and regulatory compliance.

Coptis, a software provider specializing in cosmetic formulation and regulatory compliance, brought its customers together for its annual User Club in Paris on October 13. This edition was an opportunity to share Coptis’ vision for artificial intelligence and introduce two innovations: Purple, an AI agent that turns a marketing brief or an INCI list into a compliant formula and Document Reader, which automatically creates a raw material record from a supplier document.

The User Club: a forum for co-creation

Once a year, Coptis brings its customers together in person for its User Club. This event provides a unique opportunity to co-create the future of Coptis solutions, closely aligned with the challenges faced by R&D, formulation and regulatory affairs teams.

This edition brought together representatives from brands, manufacturers and laboratories. The agenda featured experience sharing, workshops and demonstrations of the latest innovations.

Purple: the AI agent for cosmetic R&D

At Coptis, AI must be useful, reliable and grounded in industry expertise. This is the vision behind Purple, which transforms a marketing brief or an INCI list into a compliant cosmetic formula, drawing on each company’s R&D know-how.

The challenge. Our customers (cosmetic brands, manufacturers and contract manufacturers etc..) need to innovate faster, personalize their products, reduce waste and ensure compliance. Purple helps their R&D, formulation, innovation and regulatory teams address these challenges by leveraging the customer’s own raw materials and the structured data held in Coptis.

Three pillars:

  • Prompt-to-Formula: a brief or an INCI list becomes a proposed
  • Compliance by Design: regulatory compliance is built in from the design
  • Native to Coptis: Purple is integrated into Coptis for all customers. It draws on their own data and the Coptis knowledge base, rather than external sources such as general-purpose LLMs.

Document Reader: intelligent processing of raw material documents

Coptis also presented Document Reader, which automatically creates a raw material record in the Coptis solution from a supplier document. The tool extracts relevant information, populates the record fields, and then renames and files the document in the library.

Reliability is central to the approach:

  1. AI reads the supplier document (PDF).
  2. The extracted values are checked against the customer’s settings and Coptis reference data (properties, solubility, alerts, etc.).
  3. The data making up the Coptis raw material record is automatically pre-filled: INCI breakdown and traces, alerts, natural origin (ISO 16128, COSMOS), etc.

Upcoming enhancements:

  • Validation and verification: each response identifies its source before
  • Multi-format imports: multiple documents in different formats for the same raw material, with step-by-step guidance to resolve conflicts.
  • Updating existing records: updating a raw material already in the

Innovation shaped together with users

“Our User Club is where we actively shape the future of our solutions together with our customers. With Purple and Document Reader, we put AI at the service of formulation and regulatory experts: helping them innovate and work more efficiently, without ever compromising on reliability or compliance.”

— Pauline Caron, Chief Product Officer at Coptis

The workshops held during the User Club helped identify participants’ priorities. Their feedback will directly inform the roadmap for Purple, Document Reader and other new features being rolled out in Coptis SaaS. This dialogue will continue throughout the year to ensure that every enhancement addresses the real-world needs of laboratories.
